  • 12 verified hours of face-to-face instructor-led classroom instruction
  • The live portion is scheduled over two training days, with 6 verified instructional hours each day
  • Each training day includes a 1-hour non-credit lunch period; any additional breaks, check-in, technical setup, or administrative time are also excluded from instructional hours
  • May be delivered concurrently with participants attending through the live virtual classroom
  • Printed or digital materials, discussion, exercises, and scenario practice
  • 12 hours of guided self-paced coursework completed before the first live session

  • Current 2026 Standard 5.20 curriculum
  • Required California mandated-reporter training within the self-paced hours
  • Documentation, court-order, intake, exchange, and virtual-visitation exercises
  • Academy assessment requirement of at least 80 percent (Academy policy; not a statewide statutory passing score)
  • Certificate of Completion after all requirements are verified
Concurrent live-class option:

A designated cohort may include in-classroom and live virtual participants simultaneously. Both groups receive the same instructor, live curriculum, activities, scenarios, assessment, and 12 verified live instructional hours.

First live-session check-in requirement:

All 12 hours of self-paced coursework must be completed before class. Completion certificates, assignments, and supporting documentation must be submitted during check-in before live instruction begins. Missing or late documentation receives no self-paced credit and prevents issuance of the final certificate for that cohort.

California Requirements

Family Code section 3200.5, Standard 5.20, professional qualifications, declarations, Live Scan, TrustLine, contracts, records, and local procedures.

Child and Family Safety

Developmental needs, screening, domestic violence, child abuse, sexual abuse, substance abuse, emergency response, and abduction procedures.

Exchanges and Virtual Visitation

Safe transfer procedures, staggered arrivals, authorized participants, technology, privacy, age appropriateness, and written virtual-service policies.

Professional Documentation

Objective observation, visit and exchange records, incident entries, interruption and termination statements, and neutral reports.

Bridging Families Academy is an independent training provider. Its California Professional Supervised Visitation and Exchange Services Provider Training is designed to align with the training requirements of California Family Code §3200.5 and California Standard of Judicial Administration 5.20. Individual courts may have additional local requirements or may determine what training documentation they will accept. Prospective students are responsible for reviewing the current local requirements in the jurisdiction where they intend to practice before enrolling or paying tuition.
